“The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person” – (CCC 2267). Governor DeSantis has set the first execution for 2025 of James Ford, for February 13 @ 6pm at Florida State Prison. Pray for an end to the use of the death penalty. Fr. Fred Ruse has sponsored a petition to be sent to the Governor and Executive Clemency Board to stay James Ford’s execution.

Prayer to End the Use of the Death Penalty
Merciful Father, we ask your blessing on all we do to build a culture of life. Hear our prayers for those impacted by the death penalty.
We pray for all people, that their lives and dignity as children of a loving God may be respected and protected in all stages and circumstances.
We pray for victims of violence and their families, that they may experience our love and support and find comfort in your compassion and in the promise of eternal life.
We pray for those on death row, that their lives may be spared, that the innocent may be freed and that the guilty may come to acknowledge their faults and seek reconciliation with you.
We pray for the families of those who are facing execution, that they may be comforted by your love and compassion.
We pray for civic leaders, that they may commit themselves to respecting every human life and ending the use of the death penalty in our land.
Compassionate Father, give us wisdom and hearts filled with your love. Guide us as we work to end the use of the death penalty and to build a society that truly chooses life in all situations.
We ask this Father through your Son Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen
Oración para poner fin al uso de la pena de muerte
Padre misericordioso, pedimos tu bendición sobre todo lo que hacemos para construir una cultura de la vida. Escucha nuestras oraciones por aquellos afectados por la pena de muerte.
Oramos por todas las personas, para que su vida y dignidad como hijos de un Dios de amor sean respetadas y protegidas en todas las etapas y circunstancias.
Oramos por las víctimas de la violencia y sus familias, para que puedan experimentar nuestro amor y apoyo, y encontrar consuelo en tu compasión y en la promesa de la vida eterna.
Oramos por los condenados a muerte, para que se les perdonen sus vidas, para que los inocentes sean liberados, y para que los culpables reconozcan sus faltas y busquen la reconciliación contigo.
Oramos por las familias de aquellos que enfrentan la ejecución, para que puedan ser consoladas por tu amor y compasión.
Oramos por los líderes cívicos, para que se comprometan a respetar cada vida humana y poner fin al uso de la pena de muerte en nuestro país.
Padre compasivo, danos sabiduría y corazones llenos de tu amor. Guíanos mientras trabajamos en poner fin al uso de la pena de muerte y construir una sociedad que realmente elija la vida en todas las situaciones.
Te lo pedimos Padre por tu Hijo Jesucristo que vive y reina contigo, en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, un solo Dios, por los siglos de los siglos. Amen.
